UPDATED: PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE

G’day Fellow CHMMs,

We are nearly half way through 2022 and we want to get the Georgia Chapter of the AHMP up and active again. COVID has impacted us all very significantly and in many ways.

To kick the Chapter back into gear, we are hosting our first in-person technical session in nearly two years. We have found a couple new venues to hold our technical meetings and our first meeting will be hosted at GEI – Atlanta. Lunch will be provided by the Chapter for those that RSVP.

The technical meeting details are as follows:

Date: Thursday, July 21, 2022

Time: 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. (doors open at 11:30, presentation starts around noon)

Location: GEI, 3065 Akers Mill Road, Suite 235, Atlanta 30339 (Building is at the corner of Akers Mill and Cumberland and named “Sprint Corporate/Ericsson Holdings”. Follow the entrance drive to the parking garage. Free parking.)

Topic: The Art of Horizontal Drilling

Presenter: Brian Shinall, CHMM – Brian has over 25 years of experience in environmental consulting and remediation in the Atlanta area and across the southeast. He has designed, implemented, and managed dozens of remediation projects, ranging from MPE and AS/SVE systems to large injection and source removal sites. He is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and he has been hired by Ellingson-DTD to be the business development professional for the southeast.

Synopsis: Horizontal drilling is a key factor for horizontal remediation well systems and trenchless construction solutions. It can be used within farm fields, refineries, along major right of ways, and in congested urban environments. This presentation will include discussions of Horizontal Drilling, Well Installation and Screen Considerations for Injection Well Applications and Horizontal AS/SVE Wells, including a Case Study.

Lunch: Free to Chapter Members (cost $25) or $10 for non-Chapter members (please provide any dietary restrictions with your RSVP)

RSVP: Tuesday, July 19th to gachmm@gmail.com

As National AHMP funds and Chapter dues have not been readily flowing into the Chapter the past couple years, we are encouraging people to consider becoming members again of the GA-AHMP Chapter. Annual membership is still $25. For those joining as 2022 Chapter members, lunch will be “Free”. We will be asking everyone else for a $10 fee to cover lunch. We are also looking for potential generous companies who would consider sponsoring a technical session in return for posting their company information on the Chapter webpage and a quick company synopsis by the sponsor at the technical meeting. We hope you can make this the first of many to come meetings. Please RSVP to this email to let us know that you can make this in-person presentation. Lunch will be ordered for those who RSVP.

We know life and work is more hectic and crazy now than ever, but we need each of your support and involvement to make our Chapter vibrant again. This also gives us the opportunity after having been isolated for months to get out and meet some of your fellow CHMMs.

Take this opportunity to get out again.

Remember to RSVP, thank you.

We look forward to seeing you in person!!!

Gerald R. Mueller, CHMM
President 2022
