The Georgia Chapter of the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (GA-AHMP) is calling for nominations for our 2019 Officers & Volunteers.
Benefits of serving:
- Chapter Officers and Volunteers receive complimentary Chapter Membership in the year of their service.
- Serving in a leadership or volunteer capacity can help earn additional Certification Maintenance Points (CMPs) for CHMM recertification.
The more you put into it, the more you get out of it.
Officer Positions
For 2019 our elected Officers will include:
- 2019 President – Stephen Paxton
- 2019 Vice President / President-Elect – OPEN (serves as President the following year)
- 2019 Secretary – Gerald Mueller (year 2 of 2018-2019 term)
- 2019 – 2020 Treasurer – OPEN (2 year term for 2019-2020)
The duties of the open elected positions are:
Vice President / President-Elect
Serve as our Vice President during 2019, then as Chapter President in 2020, making this a 2-year term.
- Actively support the Chapter President in providing direction to the Board in 2019
- Prepare to provide overall leadership and strategic direction as President in 2020
- Organize and lead Board Meetings on a periodic basis as needed in 2020
Must be an active member of National AHMP per Chapter Affiliation Agreement.
Treasurer:
Responsible for managing Chapter finances, including:
- Main Chapter Checking Account
Scholarship Fund Account
Collect Dues, Meeting fees, etc.
Must be an active member of National AHMP per Chapter Affiliation Agreement.
Self-nominations are welcome. The Nomination period begins immediately and will last until Friday, November 30. The slate of candidates will be prepared and Elections will be held during the first part of December. The winners will be announced during the Chapter End-of-Year Party on Thursday, December 13. Newly elected Officers will assume their duties on January 1, 2019.
Volunteering
There will be many volunteer opportunities available during 2019. Examples include, and are not limited to:
- Assisting as a Committee Chair or Committee Member. Committees can include:
- Speakers – securing interesting speakers for Chapter Technical Meetings, helping to coordinate meetings
- Membership / Outreach – help recruit and welcome new members, reach out to members that haven’t participated for a while
- Scholarship Program
- CHMM Review Course – serve as a volunteer, moderator or speaker for the Review Course in early November.
- Serving as a Volunteer to help plan for and/or staff the AHMP National Conference to be held in downtown Atlanta in August 2019
